THE
SIXTIES
With a reborn enthusiasm and as usual excellent foresight, the brothers knew money would be needed to add cable lifts and the new ski business sensation, snowmaking. Since the public seemingly welcomed supporting the ski area in the past, they decided to incorporate the family ski business officially on July 14th, 1960. Before the actual public offering, available cash was used to make several improvements.

As part of the business becoming a corporation, lift tickets were created by an official ticket producer. The ticket was stapled to a "wicket" which skiers generally ran through the hole in their ski jacket zippers. Many skiers would attach numerous tickets on top of each other showing their "colors" and allegiance to the ski center. |
The idea behind this method of doing business was to raise money through sale of stock. Once the offer to the public was made, there were few takers who stepped forward to invest. Numerous efforts were made through approaching banks and the Small Business Administration to raise money. In each case, the belief in the investment of the ski area was met with negative responses. |
