With rustic appeal and all of its original charm, the Simpson's still drew weekend crowds. The ski area could stand proud as it retained yearly continuity of operation, even in some tough natural snow years. In 1971, brother James passed on. This left the weight of the operation on Gus' two sons, Alan and Jay. |

During this time period, hang gliding came to the slopes. In an effort to use the property for purposes other than skiing, the land was leased to an instructor who taught and rented gliders. |
